Strong wind and heavy rain can damage a lanai screen even when the aluminum frame still looks fine. A small tear can grow quickly, especially near a corner or door opening.

Start with a slow visual inspection

Walk around the inside and outside of the enclosure. Look for loose spline, pulled corners, openings along the frame and panels that move more than the others.

Check these four areas

  • Individual screen panels with tears or holes
  • Door panels that no longer close squarely
  • Loose spline around the edge of the screen
  • Bent aluminum or damage affecting several connected panels
Good news: If the frame is straight and only one panel is damaged, the entire enclosure usually does not need to be rescreened.

When a panel replacement is usually enough

A single-panel repair is often appropriate when the tear is isolated, the surrounding spline channel is intact and the frame has not shifted. Door sections and unusually large upper panels may require a different approach.

Take useful photos before requesting a quote

Send one wide photo showing the panel location and one close photo of the damage. Include an approximate width and height when possible. This helps distinguish a small side panel from a large pool-cage section.
